Major hotel brands from across the globe don’t seem to mind that data from Tourism Malaysia hardly shows an uptick in visitor numbers. On the contrary, the niche upscale brands seem bent on entering the market, outpacing each other in launching new hotels in KL.
Something must be going right in KL’s luxury hotel industry then, because so many glamorous hotel brands couldn’t possibly be getting it wrong. The recent openings of Alila Bangsar, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and W Kuala Lumpur since May stand as examples of this.
And this trend won’t be ending any time soon. Homegrown guests, who accounted for 64 percent of total hotel guests who checked-in in Malaysia last year, will be pleased to learn that more stylish, staycation-worthy spots like citizenM will be cutting their ribbons by the end of 2018.
While 2019 won’t be as busy in terms of hotel openings this year, it will still carry on the momentum for the local hospitality scene until 2022. So, whether you’re planning a business trip or considering a much-deserved break with the entire family, you might want to hold off your hotel reservations for awhile. Just wait for these 8 upcoming hotels in KL to open, to experience the capital in a whole new way.
